CGADG 2025 AGM

CGADG held its first Annual General Meeting by Zoom on July 23rd 2025. This meeting was recorded for our website. Details for how to connect with this meeting recording are set out below.

AGM guest speakers were former Canadian Grain Commission Assistant Commissioner, Patty Rosher, and former SaskWheat policy manager, James Lokken. The goals of our AGM were to report to members on the work of our organization, discuss CGADG policy and activities, and make decisions about the future.

Key decisions from this meeting included:

  • election of Glenn Tait of Meota, Saskatchewan as CGADG chair. Glenn operates his great-grandfather’s Meota, Saskatchewan homestead, a 2300 acre conventional mixed farm, with his son, brother-in-law and son-in-law. Glenn is a current director of SaskWheat, RM of Meota #469 rep for APAS, and a longtime former director of the National Farmers Union. Glenn was also nominated by SaskWheat to the Canadian Grain Commission’s Western Standards Committee.
  • membership approval for undertaking, with partners, a poll of western Canadian grain producers for their views on the Canada Grain Act, Canadian Grain Commission and producer relations and interactions with Prairie grain companies. No such poll has been undertaken since a small sample by the CGC in 2017.
  • members also expressed support for a study of the economic impact for farmers of removal of the primary elevators test-weight for cereals in favour of the higher terminal test-weight, with partners if resources allow. This unpopular change was implemented – then quickly withdrawn – by the Commission in 2023 but the CGC has refused to rule out reimposing it in the future.
